About Richio
My Biography

I was brought into this world on September 17, 1999 by my mother Anja and Patrick Ruiten. I was born in the Amphia hospital in Breda. After one night rest my mother and I could go home.
My parents were already obsessed with skiing so when I was 6 months I came with them to Austria. My grandparents joined us to babysit me during the day time so that my parents could go skiing the whole day. (smart, aren't they?)
As a result of this my aunts and uncles came along when I was just a bit over 2 years old because I was getting my first skiing class in Gerlos, Austria. And yes, it was terrific, only miss Fleur made me walk up every time and I didn’t agree with that because there was also a band conveyor to go up. So every time she lost me.
That's when my addiction to skiing started. In the Netherlands I started taking classes at Club Snowland Zoetermeer and Landgraaf. After a few years people from Snowsports Academy Racing (SAR) came to see if there were special talents. Didier decided that I and a few other kids should come and ski with them.
Already since a few years now I sky at SAR in Landgraaf. There I really got acquainted with high performance skiing and since then I go to Austria to participate in contests on a regular basis, for example the Kids Cup and the Dutch Championships. In the period 2009 / 2010 I made third at the Slalom and fourth at the Giant Slalom in my category (candidates II) from the Dutch Championships.
Now I have joined the ‘pupils’ which means that I am also allowed to participate in European contests. This is a big step in my career. I am very much looking forward to the new season.
It will be rigorous trainings mostly to improve my stamina. I'll be running, mountain biking, abs exercises and more.
